How to Prevent Phimosis In Babies

It is common for uncircumcised baby boys to have phimosis, a medical condition in which the foreskin does not retract as it is still attached to the glans.  By around 2-6 years, the foreskin starts to separate naturally from the glans. However, sometimes it may take longer to separate, and you should not rush into looking for the best phimosis cure option.

Either way, it’s not to say you should sit back and watch as your child experiences symptoms as it may indicate something worse. While it is tempting to try forcing the foreskin back, never do that at any given time. After all, it may be painful and can complicate the situation further.

The good news is that there are numerous ways to prevent phimosis in babies and avoid spending more on medical costs. Continue reading to find out more.

Care of Uncircumcised Penis

You don’t have to go overboard when offering care to your child’s foreskin in infancy.  Even though retracting the foreskin by force is a NO, there is nothing wrong with gentle retraction. You can pull this off hassle-free when changing your baby’s diaper or giving him a bath. That way, you will notice progressive retraction after some time. Wirth this phimosis treatment option in babies, ensure you pull back the foreskin over the head of the penis to the normal position.

Penis Hygiene

Maintaining penis hygiene is undeniably the most effective phimosis cure in babies. All you have to do is clean the penis gently and under the foreskin with warm water during bath time. Repeat this action every day as it helps loosen the skin while at the same time preventing any infection.

Once your child becomes of age, ensure he learns how to retract his foreskin when urinating and during bathes before pulling it back forward again.  Remember, there is nothing wrong with using an ointment to help loosen the foreskin. You can discontinue its use once you are in a position to retract the foreskin fully.

Rounding Up

Preventing phimosis in your baby does not have to be the underlying reason behind your woes. The secret lies in employing the correct measures in place, and you’re good to go. If in doubt, feel free to consult your doctor for advice.  Things are not any different when in need of the most viable phimosis treatment option for your baby.
